Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

my buddy ,my best friend , my hero

Walt,Ski,Ben..he was all those guys. He was the best. There's not enough room to tell you about this guy. I spent a lot of time with him when he was on leave before he left for Vietnam. When the news came that he was killed the town of Bayside went into shock. I just can't say enough about him. When he got killed about 10 to 12 guys joined the Marines to get even. we all made it back, he had to be watching out for us. He still is my buddy, my best friend, my hero and I miss him every day. Rest Walt,Ski,Ben.

In remembrance of Walter Bienkowski

In the summer of 1988 I was looking at names on the wall while my husband searched the official record for buddies he had been in the service with in the early 60s. I was shocked and saddened to suddenly come upon the name of a grade school classmate. His name was distintive, so I had no doubt, but checked the records to be sure. Yes, it was Walter, who I remembered from our days at Sacred Heart elementary school in Bayside, Queens, N.Y. So young 0 so sad.
