Never forget you.

Walter was a great guy. I was a little girl when he went to Viet Nam and felt the loss when he didn't return. He would always make me laugh if he saw me sitting alone on the curb on Corporal Stone Street. I have thought of him many times throughout the years and missed him very much. My brother Gene went to Nam and I was so glad when he came home to us alive. I wish Walter could have done the same. God bless you Walter, you will never be forgotten.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Walter Joseph Bienkowski, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Bigger than life in Our Town

I meet Walter thru the Hi school we both went too.He was a big ,man in all ways.He was smart, polite and one of the toughest guys in Bayside. We use to meet every day at the end of our Schoolbus ride from Holy Cross. We would talk about life and be on our ways. What a sad day the school had when his name was announced over the 8 period loudspeaker that he was killed in action. Our town went into deep sorrow.God how his departure hurt. God bless you Waltw
