Honoring You
I choose your name from the CT map painted in our school which lists the soldiers from our school from our state that lost their lives in Vietnam. As part of Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School posting project, I would like to honor the sacrifice you made for our country. Douglas James Beveridge was very brave for fighting in Vietnam. He was only there for a year and was very young when he passed away. Family and friends are missing him back home. He will always be remembered.

In Memory of Douglas James Beveridge of Boy Scout Troop 32, Plainville, Connecticut.
Doug was in Boy Scout Troop 32 of Plainville, Connecticut. He was much older than I, four years. I remember him as a pretty tough guy, who was neither a bully nor mean. Seems he had a black belt in one of the martial arts, but I can't be sure anymore. He was rough and tumble and not to be trifled with, so when I heard he was killed I wasn't sure I wanted to go over there anymore. If they could kill a man like Doug...
I believe he was a Green Beret, but again I am uncertain. I remember how he was killed and how they identified him and I am somewhat ashamed I don't remember more. I'm glad he didn't suffer much. I'm so very glad they found him and brought him home.
I saw his name on The Wall That Heals. He did his Duty to his country by putting himself in harm's way. I am proud to have known him. I will not forget him.
