Remembering An American Hero
Dear SGT Joseph Anthony Oreto, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

In Remembrance
A photo that includes Sargeant Oreto appears in the book 'American Warrior - A Combat Memoir of Vietnam' by Brig. Gen. John C. 'Doc' Bahnsen, published in 2008 by Citadel Press. We all owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Sgt. Oreto and the other members of our military who gave so much.

Always My Hero
Although my heart broke to lose our big brother, I was proud that he volunteered to serve our country. He led by example in our family and served honorably during his time with the armed forces. I believe that his example led to three more of us following in his footsteps.
His time with us was much too brief, but he will be remembered with stories and smiles for as long as we breathe.
