James Dean Opsahl
I feel everyone here needs some acknowledgement of their ultimate sacrifice for our country. You died much too young. You had a life that deserved many more years. You left behind people who loved you and who, I imagine still feel the pain of your loss to this day. I hope they have comfort in knowing you are at rest and that they will someday see you again in a much better place.
Your courage and efforts in Vietnam will never be forgotten in my heart and in a multitude of others who have the utmost respect and honor for the soldiers who lost their lives there.

My Friend, JD
JD & I learned to fly together in Pensacola, trained in New River, NC, partied, & went overseas to Phu Bai, Viet Nam.
He was a special Marine; Our friends in war were those we'd known so closely those last couple of years; Tom Brownfield was another; There was clique and we kept track of each other & counted each other's days until we had less than 30 days. Then we became more vigilant because JD had paid his dues, over a year in Viet Nam. He'd be going home soon...and he did~~in spirit only. He paid the price we were all willing to pay, but prayed the Lord spare us. A great friend, still. Aloha JD
