honoring you....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

Thank You

Dear PFC Adan Olvera, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Yesterday was your 55th anniversary, sad, and I researched the 55th anniversary of your wounding, very sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday was Washington’s birthday, and Lent has begun. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

The 11:00 AM explosion knocked the 44-ton AmTrac on its side before becoming engulfed in flames. A total of nine Marines and one Army of the Republic of Vietnam soldier perished in the incident. All suffered multiple extreme burn and blast injuries. Another sixteen Marines and one Navy personnel were wounded. The lost Marines included PFC Allen J. Avery, PFC Frank E. Crabbe, CPL Herbert G. Goggan, PFC Richard E. Marks, PFC Eli W. Nichols, PFC Adan M. Olvera, CPL Jack Rabinovitz, PVT Waymond N. Stephenson, and LCPL Bobby R. Wayman. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
