BELOVED BROTHER & FRIEND

My brother, Earl, was the most loyal & trusting person one can want in life. He made sacrifices in his young & shortened life to help our mom, who was divorced, and later widowed, support 4 kids. REMARKABLE young man, Earl certainly was! I miss him terribly, even 46 years later. Such a loss never goes away; it just gets suppressed.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Earl Akio Okumura, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Earl and I served together

Earl and Iserved in the 1st.ID together. He transfered to the Combat Recon Patrol and I went stateside. He extended his tour and got KIA. I was very saddened to hear that news. Earl was a humble but strong, fearless and wirey type of guy. May his Soul rest in Peace.
