Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

From a friend in our early years.

HOW WELL I REMEMBER OUR FRIENDSHIP IN THE 50's. YOU LIVED JUST DOWN THE STREET IN MILLER'S COURT IN A SMALL TRAILER WITH YOUR MOM & DAD. WE HAD LOTS OF FUN AS KIDS. I, TOO, WENT TO VIETNAM AFTER BEING DRAFTED IN 1968. I NEVER TOLD YOU; BUT I WAS SO PROUD TO HAVE KNOWN YOU, MY FRIEND. I'M 68 NOW AND DISABLED FROM THE WAR. BE SEEING YOU SOON BUDDY... REST IN BLESSED PEACE...
