Dear Lcpl Charles Nielsen, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It’s a New Year, but not necessarily better. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I grew up in the neighborhood on Ave O and E 48th Street, went to St Thomas Aquinas and I remember like it was yesterday, the day I heard of your passing as it was announced by Mrs. Faraci over the intercom. Rest in piece Marine in the Halls of Valhalla.

I WISH I HAD KNOWN YOU ESPECIALLY SINCE WE SHARE THE SAME NAME, AND I FEEL THAT WE BOTH SHARED A COMMON LOVE FOR AMERICA AND THE MARINE CORPS. I, A SERGEANT IN THE MARINE CORPS, AND A VIETNAM VETERAN, WAS ABLE TO GO ON TO BECOME A PHYSICIAN AND DO GOD'S WORK AS IT WERE. IN MANY WAYS, THAT HAS REQUIRED MUCH SACRIFICE AND HAS DELAYED MY
ULTIMATE ENTRANCE INTO GOD'S ETERNAL SPIRITUAL REALM. BUT THAT WILL ALWAYS BE THE REWARD, NOT ONE'S EARTHLY EXPERIENCES. I HOPE TO MEET YOU SOME DAY. CHARLES JOSEPH NEILSON
