Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Gordon William Bent, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Heartfelt ongoing loss

I have so many memories that I get to review in my heart everyday. Your loss still brings tears to my eyes as if it were yesterday. I love it when others speak of you and share their memories always bringing you back to life. You will always be missed by so many, and our lives changed forever the day you left this earth.

You impact my daily life

Each day I walk by the Big Red One memorial in Washington DC where your name is inscribed. You are a part of my daily life; I feel so close to you, and you have such an impact on my life. I am so proud to be your niece. I love hearing stories about you and learning about the person that you were. While I wish I we could share in each other's lives, you are impacting mine and you and your memory will live on in all of us that are so proud of you.
