My Brother

If there ever was a young man that Mother's would point to and say "Why can't you be more like him" it was my brother .Even though I was older than him, I could not compete with his character. Since his death I have attempted to emulate his ways unsuccessfully. He was one of a kind and the world is lacking without his presence.

Grady E. McBride III

I served with Lt McBride, was actually his driver. We were referred to as Lt MAC and Sgt Mac. I left country in January, 1970, and was very sadden by his death. I knew several of the men from the unit killed that night at the tank farm. Lt. McBride was a great guy, funny and well liked by everybody. Res in peace, Sir.

Shared Grief

My Uncle Everette Dual Ratliff was also killed in the attack on June 5, 1970. As a small child i have no memories of him, only old letters sent home. It is nice to know that he served with a leader that is so fondly remembered. To all those that served, Thank you for your sacrifice, may God bless you always.

Grady E McBride 111

Grady was not only a great friend, but also a fellow officer. I was fortunate enough to first me him at Ft. Lee, Virginia in 1968 and then at Ft. Hood, Texas in 1969. We departed almost at the same time for Vietnam in the fall of 1969 and corresponded during that time. I will not ever forget that moment when I was notified of his being killed in action. I cried and cried and cried. And over and over kept thinking it should have been me, not him. He was a terrific person and outstanding officer. And I have thought about him so often over the past 44 years. It was one of the darkest moments in my life. And I have missed him dearly. Rest in eternal peace my dear friend. You will never be forgotten and your sacrifice for all of us (especially your daughter Rachel) will always be remembered.
