Although we never met personally, I want to thank you Albert Du Ward Benson, for your courageous and valiant service, your years of faithfully contributing, and your most holy sacrifice given to this great country of ours!

Your Spirit is alive--and strong, therefore Sir, you shall never be forgotten, nor has your death been in vain!

Again, thank you Lieutenant Albert Du Ward Benson, for a job well done!

You were my platoon comander and I was with you the day you gave your full measure of sacrifice. Thanks for your leadership and courage.

I was a forward observer with 2/5 and visted your parents in 1971 and put names with pictures you had sent home. You never asked anyone to do what you wouldn't do. It was a honor to know you.

We went to college together although I did not know you well. My memories of you are seeing you running day after day early in the morning as I sat in the student union. There may have been more talented track runners but none more dedicated. I was in Viet Nam on a fire base when I received word from my wife also a Wayne State grad, that you had been killed in Viet Nam. Heard later that at your funeral they sang the song The Impossible Dream it seemed very fitting.
