THE WALL OF FACES

You were my platoon comander and I was with you the day you gave your full measure of sacrifice. Thanks for your leadership and courage.

I was a forward observer with 2/5 and visted your parents in 1971 and put names with pictures you had sent home. You never asked anyone to do what you wouldn't do. It was a honor to know you.

We went to college together although I did not know you well. My memories of you are seeing you running day after day early in the morning as I sat in the student union. There may have been more talented track runners but none more dedicated. I was in Viet Nam on a fire base when I received word from my wife also a Wayne State grad, that you had been killed in Viet Nam. Heard later that at your funeral they sang the song The Impossible Dream it seemed very fitting.

He was my brother's good friend. They were on the track team together. They died within a year of each other.
