do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never truly die....
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush

To my roommate in B Troop 3rd Sq 17th Cav.
David was an OH-6 Pilot in Command in a Hunter- Killer Team. The OH-6 was the Hunter with an AH -1G Cobra as the Killer. David was flying low and slow hunting for Vietnam-Cong soldiers as the Cobra circled overhead. He received heavy enemy fire and his aircraft crashed. Even though he was mortally wounded he controlled the aircraft and his observer survived. He was a great person and I still miss him!
