Attack on Camp Carroll - September 10, 1968

Camp Carroll was a U.S. Marine Corps and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) artillery base located eight kilometers (4.8 miles) southwest of Cam Lo in Quang Tri Province, RVN. Camp Carroll was at the centroid of a large arc of the strategic National Route QL-9 corridor south of the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), making it a key facility. In the fall of 1968, B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 94th Artillery, 108th Artillery Group, XXIV Corps was located at Camp Carroll. On September 10, 1968, the B Battery communications bunker in was hit by North Vietnamese Army 152mm artillery fire, killing two enlisted 2/94th personnel and wounding two others. The lost personnel were PFC Alfredo Lopez Jr. and PFC Harold E. Moseley (posthumously promoted to Corporal). Moseley was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star medal for valor as he tried to keep communications open during the attack. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and willpete.com]

we will remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
