My friend

Paul and I were flight school classmates, WORWAC 69-3, and close friends. We both served in the 1st Cav, different units. On the day he died I and another B/227 aircraft flew with Paul’s A/229 unit. Paul and I swiched places in the flight formation to keep the 4 A Co and 2 B Co aircraft together. Paul was in the 3 slot where I was supposed to be when it was shot up and he died. I think about him every day and miss him dearly.

Can I Frost Your Cookies Little Girl

I met Paul in 1960 down on Popponessett Beach Cape Cod MA. He family had just bought a summer cottage down the street from me. Paul had a cool Chevy Corvair and I had a TR3 which quite frequently traded with girls in them. It was a summer of change for all and a time of just enjoying close friendships. I entered into Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Paul joined the Army. I lost contact with all until the summer of 1971 when my wife and son (Sean) stayed at the cottage. I found that Paul had been killed in Vietnam earlier that year. Then during my assignment to the Pentagon in 2002, I finally got the courage to visit Paul at the Vietnam Memorial. I stood silent for quite awhile looking at Paul's name and reminiscing about the summer together...good memories. I came to attention, saluted Paul farewell, and went back to the Pentagon. I am now happily retired with my loved ones in Chesapeake VA.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear CWO Paul Robert Moran, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for the ultimate sacrifice that you made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. And please know that men and women like you have stepped forward to defend our country yet again, showing the same love for country and their fellow Americans that you did- you would be proud.

With respect, and the best salute that a civilian can muster for you.

Curt Carter (son of Sgt Ardon William Carter, 101st Airborne, February 4, 1966, South Vietnam)
