Dear Ssgt Bennie Monfort, Thank you for your service as an Armor Crewman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Veterans’ Day is this week. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ft. Benning, Basic Training

I was just given the news today of Sarges passing in Vietnam. He was my platoon sergeant in Basic Training. What a great DI he was. I've got tears running down my face while reading the tributes to him by his family members and brothers who were fortunate enough to have been trained my him. Sergeant Monfort, I salute you for your dedication to our country and your ultimate sacrifice. Many years have passed but I remember it like it was yesterday. I have the same picture as that posted by Mike Terrell from the yearbook. R.I.P. Sarge.

Ft. Benning Basic Training

SSGT. Monfort was my barracks D. I. at basic training, tough and determined to make soldiers of us.he also had a great sense of humor and showed great respect for his troops. After leaving Ft. Benning I didn't give the time much thought as I went on to Ft. Diux for A.I.T. and Germany into an Artillery Unit.Later when I got home in 70 I put my grad book from basic in storage.years later after moving from time to time I found the book and started to look at the pictures of my fellow grads of Benning and wondered what happened to them.I got the idea to search the wall as I knew at least one of them went to Vietnam.Richard Ware....he was killed in action...as I continued through the wall I found 5 more who also were killed in action including my D. I.SSGT. Bennine Monfort. Broke my heart such a nice guy went the way of the brave.Rest in Peace Sarge,I wear a memorial bracelet in your honor and sacrifice.....HOOOOOOOAAAAHHHH !
