Thank you Doc

Although we never met personally, I want to thank you Malcolm Geoffrey Mole, for your courageous and valiant service, faithful contribution, and most holy sacrifice, given to this great country of ours!

Your Spirit is alive--and strong, therefore, you shall never be forgotten, nor has your death been in vain!

Again, thank you Doc Mole, for a job well done!

FAIR WINDS, AND ETERNAL PEACE MY FRIEND

I'm the One Called "Doc..."

I'm the One Called "Doc…"

I shall not walk in your footsteps,
but I will walk by your side.
I shall not walk in your image,
I've earned my own title of pride.
We've answered the call together,
on sea and foreign land.
When the cry for help was given,
I've been there right at hand.
Whether I am on the ocean
or in the jungle wearing greens,
Giving aid to my fellow man,
be it Sailors or Marines.
So the next time you see a corpsman
and you thing of calling him "squid",
Think of the job he's doing
as those before him did.
And if you ever have to go out there
and you life is on the block,
Look at the one right next to you…
I'm the one called "Doc".

TO A NEVER-TO-BE-FORGOTTEN CORPSMAN FROM KILO 3/26

Malcolm: I think about you all the time...you've been a constant companion all these years. I remember you at Christmas '67 and my finger injury that you helped to get stitched. I remember the all-day patrols off 861 -- the elephant grass, the humidity, the leeches -- and your constant sense of humor and your disc-jockey way of talking. My radioman and I were probably the last two people on earth to talk to you in the early morning hours of 21January 1968. I think about your death often and wonder at "why you & not me." Fate or God, I guess, depending on what you believe in. I will catch up to you one of these days. I still miss you. Dennis

"THINK OF ME"

You know you cannot bring me back,
You know that I am gone,
I walk the streets of Heaven now,
It's my eternal home,
But think of me now and then,
Just as you do today,
Remember that I died for you,
So America could stay,
A land where men are equal,
A land where men are free,
A land I lived and died for,
When you think of Freedom,
"THINK OF ME".

Submitted and written by Loyde P. "Snake" Arender, Machine-gunner, K 3/26, USMC. IN REMEMBERANCE OF OUR K 3/26 KIA. From the KILO COMPANY/3RD MARINE BATTALION/26TH MARINE REGIMENT ROSTER HOMEPAGE. http://home.switchboard.com/KiloCo3rdBN26thMarinesVietnam

"I TRIED"

"I TRIED" my best to save you,
Both you and God know "I TRIED",
"I TRIED" to stop the hand of death,
As I knelt there by your side,
"I TRIED" everything that I could do,
During the fire-fight in Nam that day,
But no matter how hard "I TRIED",
There was nothing I could do or say,
I stared deep into your eyes,
I held you as you died,
And though no words were spoken,
I believe you know "I TRIED".
