I served in 3rd Platoon Delta at the same time ( Sept. - Dec. 1966), I don't know how many times I saw John during his time in Delta or if we even spoke to each other during that time, but I know I lost a brother on 5 November 1966 when John died. Time is suppose to heal all wounds, but the older I get the more I know that the wound from losing John and 58,000 + others like him will never heal, and we should never forget. America needs men like John today and I fear there are few who could or would fill his boots today. Rest in Peace
