THE WALL OF FACES

Some may think you are forgotten
Though on earth you are no more
But in our memory you are with us

Think of you often Jim, especially on Memorial Day. You will always be in my heart.

Dear PFC James Merz, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another autumn. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Jim was in my class at Lincoln Elementary. He was also the safety boy on our corner (Edgeworth and 11 Mile). My little sister had the biggest crush on him. She would hang out on the corner with him. She was probably somewhat annoying but he always treated her with kindness. RIP Jimmers (that's what my sister called him). You were a gentleman and a hero!

Jim was a good friend of my older brother, Roger Couture. We grew up in the same neighborhood with Jim. Roger often speaks of his good buddy and how he died in Nam. A terrible tragedy like so many Veterans. My brothers made it back home without injury.

I write this note with deep sadness from Roger, Gary and myself. Thank you Jim, for giving your all.
