I still remember you, Todd
We became good friends while in the UW dorm in Madison. 18 months after last seeing each other, our paths briefly crossed while in basic training at Lackland AFB. That was the last I saw of you.
I spent 4 years stateside, and you went to Nam. A year or so later, your parents told me the plane you were on had been shot down.
Although business took me to Washington DC many times in the intervening years, it took me until 2008 to not break down 1/4 mile away and finally visit the wall. I still cry thinking of the many lost in that useless war.

Todd was a linguist and I was a Morse intercept operator. We were both stationed at Detachment 2, 6994th Security Squadron, DaNang AB in 1970 and 1971. We lived in the same barracks and occasionally played cards together (Todd was into bridge and I played mostly pinochle). These were bad times but with many good memories. I flew often in the area that Todd was lost in and my Facebook page features a photo of me standing by the tail of EC-48Q with tail number AN 636 (this was the plane Todd was lost in -- call sign Baron 52). The photo was taken in the revetment area at DaNang AB.
