REMEMBRANCES
A Hero My Grandfather
Remembering An American Hero
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
My Father, My Hero
You will never be forgotten by your family. Dad, even though we never met, I will never forget what you have done for our country. I talk to various people who knew you, sisters, brothers, mother, cousins, soliders that you were a Staff Sgt. to, and they all tell me about the awesome man you were. I can't wait for that great reunion in the sky. You have 3 children, Penny Lambert, Bob Matheny, Bobbie Anderson. You have a grandson, that looks like you as a small child, I hope he grows up to look just like you! I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU WITH EACH PASSING DAY! He enlisted in Oaklawn, IL but his hometown is Pensacola,FL and there is a replica of the Vietnam Wall in the park where he played in on the Pensacola Bay.
Drill Sergeant Matheny
If I could say one thing to you today, it would be 'Thank You'. As a young 17 year old, still wet behind the ears, your leadership and sacrifice guided me through some of the most important times of my life. I am alive today because of what you taught me in basic training; not only me but countless others. From us all a big Thank You for being our Father, Mother, Sister and Brother and teaching us how to survive.
