Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP5 James Phillip Mason, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Jim, First I want to say you are missed by myself and your family.I also want to say I am sorry you died on that terrible night in October 1968. The last time I saw you waved at me has your helicopter lifted off my ship and then you were gone when your helicopter crashed in the South China Sea . It was great seeing you but I feel if I had not been out there you might sill be alive. You are listed as MIA but you are always in my heart. I also have told the story on how you were lost.
