Peace with Honor
You were one of the brave that answered the call. You honored us by your service and sacrifice. We now honor you each time we stand and sing the words “THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE”. Rest in Peace and Honor Billy.

He was my fiance
Billy was to return home where we would be married. He was the sweetest, fun loving, good natured, tall and handsome man. Gone too soon. Was the saddest day of my life when we lost you. Dreams that we two had, that would never be. Thinking of you Billy on this anniversary day that we lost you.

Funny guy
Billy was a great guy. Always happy. I served with him in the same platoon. He left the platoon for a supply room job, where we all thought it was a little safer. A land mine took him away when he brought a resupply to a forward area. So senseless and sad. Your name and memory is always there.
Your family was blessed to have such a fine son and brother.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Billy Richard Martinez, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
