Thank You

Dear Lcpl William Martin, Thank you for your service as a Combat Engineer. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day is this weekend. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Your Legacy

Bill, I was stationed at Cherry Point Marine Corp Base when you were killed. My parents informed me that we were second Cousins, Our Grandmothers were Sisters. After getting out of the Marine Corps, I met and married a girl named Colleen that knew you in High School. I was at Khe Sanh and left country on July 2, 1967. I have met a lot of people that thought the world of you and were deeply troubled when you were killed. You left a legacy of being a super nice guy. Peace be with you. You are Missed.

thinking of you

Billy, I found a letter I had written to my parents where I referenced writing to you and saying don't join the Marines. I got out in 1966 and you died in 1967. we were best buddies through our school years. I think about you often.
