Honor and Duty

As a young boy I knew the Mann family, growing up in the same neighborhood with the same friends. Although at the time I was too young to understand, I always felt the loss and pain they carried. Now decades later I still feel that loss. Your husband and father is a hero and is one of the reasons I became a Marine. May he rest in peace and may Pat, John and Jim also have peace.

Captain Mann is still fondly remembered in his hometown of Cromwell CT. The middle and high school students know of his bravery and sacrifice. Now 40 years after his tragic passing he is still an inspiration to the citizens of Cromwell.

James Mann was my boss on my first Vietnam tour --1968 in 5th Special Forces. He was smart, tough, fair, and a fine leader. I am honored to have served with him and I honor his life and service to his country.
