First love
I was just a little girl when I knew Dick and his wife Pat. He was my first love and thought he hung the moon. I was devastated to learn he passed away. What a great guy!

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Richard Earl Beckwith, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Acting Jack
Dick was a fine soldier who enjoyed being with fighting men. He spent all his free time with the C&C Det Phu Bai and yearned to be a Green Beret. He was a likeable, hard charging, dynamic person who had an abundance of charisma. I was his superior for over a year and had promoted him to Acting Sergeant before my departure one week before his death. I always think of him fondly and shall never forget him.
