honoring you...

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Christopher Lyon, Thank you for your service as an OH-12/OH-23 Helicopter Repairman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day is this weekend, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

My Friend and fellow soldier

Chris, Every Memorial Day I would remind my children and anyone else who would listen about you. Thanks for the rides back to Michigan from Ft. Rucker Alabama that you gave me and others, it's the kind of person you were. We had such great talks about politics and just life in general. I have done what we agreed upon and voted in every election if one of us didn't make it back. You had such a great sense of duty and patriotism and being a soldier than I ever had. Wes told me about the crash when I met up with him at some crazy fire support base and then three weeks later I heard about him. Here's a laugh for you, my major actually made me a sergeant, he never did like me. You made me a better man.

TO MY FRIEND

Hey Bro, I sure do miss you. I remember the times we spent working at the Kroger store there in Coldwater during our high school years. I didn't learn of your death until a year or so after I got home from Vietnam. Your death came just weeks after I arrived there at DaNang AB on January 4, 1968. I hope to see you again in heaven and THANK YOU for your service to our country dear friend. RIP.
