To A Fallen Warrior
Clayton was the brother of a classmate of mine, his sister Carol. Although he was a couple of years younger than myself, I will always remember him as a true warrior and outstanding soldier. To lose a family member in war, to lose a soldier in war is something I've never experienced personally. Having served for twenty-five years in the Army, I still feel the pain of losing a brother; a former T-Bird; a fellow citizen of our fine town of Baraboo. My thoughts and my prayers on a daily basis go out to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we live so daily.

My dearest Uncle Clayton
My memories of you are somewhat shrouded by time, and the fact that I was a fairly small child when you were taken from us. I remember you staying with us before you left. I remember you and my Mom having towel - snapping fights. I remember you riding Frosty in the pasture at the farm, and I remember the Army honor guard, accompanied by Father Henry on that horrible day that they came to tell us that you were taken from us. You have NEVER been forgotten, and you never will be. You were just a boy thrown into the unspeakable world of war. You're loved. You were ALWAYS loved, and remain loved. You were a sweet, gentle, kind, gentle and loving person. We will NEVER forget you. You're so much more than a name etched in stone. God bless you, and I love you.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Clayton J Luther, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
