If I should die...remembrances for LTCOL. Martin Robert BECK, USA...who died so we may be free!!!!!!
If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

My Special Forces Commander
Col. Beck was my Company Commander in then West Germany. He never slacked off his duties. I respected him greatly as both a man and commander.
He got me promoted to 1st Lt. as an "A-Team" commander there in the 10th SFG.
I know his daughter Mary Beth loved him very much also from the time I knew her at Bad Toelz.
I was in S. Vietnam in the Mekong Delta when news arrived of Col. Beck's passing. It hurt me badly and I'll never forget him.
