Help me find Joe's Family

My father, Ron Hopkins was with Joe on that terrible day. He asked me to help to get in touch with Joe's family so that he could explain some things from that day. If you could help, please email or call me. 616-822-9412

Never Forgotten

FOREVER REMEMBERED

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you....and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go.....Be not ashamed to say you loved them....
Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own....And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind...."

Quote from a letter home by Maj. Michael Davis O'Donnell
KIA 24 March 1970. Distinguished Flying Cross: Shot down and Killed while attempting to rescue 8 fellow soldiers surrounded by attacking enemy forces.

We Nam Brothers pause to give a backward glance, and post this remembrance to you, one of the gentle heroes lost to the War in Vietnam:

Slip off that pack. Set it down by the crooked trail. Drop your steel pot alongside. Shed those magazine-ladened bandoliers away from your sweat-soaked shirt. Lay that silent weapon down and step out of the heat. Feel the soothing cool breeze right down to your soul ... and rest forever in the shade of our love, brother.

From your Nam-Band-Of-Brothers

Dear Joe

I remember fondly the times we shared growing up. You were taken from us far too early! I am proud of you for giving your life to defend our great country. I will always remember your great smile with the deep dimples and will look for you in heaven.

A Remembrance for Joseph

Joseph was my cousin... I was only 4 years old and never had the opportunity to meet him. My Father told me that he was a very good artist. Joseph had just been commissioned to be a Combat Artist and was due to be transfered within 24-48 hours when they were attacked by a sniper and he was killed. I am proud of him for serving his country and saddened that I never got the chance to know him. I know I will meet him in heaven someday.
Godspeed Joseph Logan I love you.
Love,

Your cousin Kathleen (McFadden)Hitchcock
