Thank You
Dear Captain David Lindberg, Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is Easter Wednesday, and Passover. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

POSTED BY: A Grateful Vietnam Veteran
Distinguished Flying Cross Citation
David Carl Lindberg
DATE OF BIRTH: September 17, 1937
HOME OF RECORD:
Lakeport, California
Distinguished Flying Cross
AWARDED FOR ACTIONS
DURING Vietnam War
Service: Air Force
Battalion: 531st Tactical Fighter Squadron
GENERAL ORDERS:
Headquarters, 7th Air Force, Special Orders G-894 (June 21, 1967)
CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat "V" (Posthumously) to Captain David Carl Lindberg (AFSN: FR-56281), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot in Southeast Asia on 21 May 1967. On that date, Captain Lindberg was the wingman in a flight of two aircraft which attacked a large hostile force about to overrun a friendly force. Captain Lindberg made repeated low-level attacks on the heavily defended hostile positions with complete disregard for his own personal safety. His precision ordnance deliveries, within a few meters of the friendly positions, and the aggressive manner in which he attacked the hostile guns sites allowed the beleaguered ground unit to break contact saving them from certain annihilation. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Lindberg reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Not forgotten
It Has been a number of years since we were supposed to go trout fishing when you rotated, Dave. Reading the Air Force times, I saw a casualty list and you were on it. That was in 1967! You may be gone but never forgotten, not by me as long as I should live.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear Captain David Carl Lindberg, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter
