Ground Casualty
PFC Leon Beard was Tactical Wire Operations Specialist serving with Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division. On January 30, 1969, less than a month after arriving in Vietnam, Beard was at Ban Me Thout East Airfield in Darlac Province, RVN, when he was run over by an out-of-control forklift operated by another person.
