HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY OLD FRIEND

Today you would have turned 80. I think of you often and am grateful that you were a big part of my youth. I am both sad and angry that you were denied the opportunity to experience the joys and challenges of a full life. Part of that regret is selfish…. I had to grow old without you.
Steve, Tony and I were best friends from Jr. High school on. We had many adventures…. And a few miss-adventures over those years. Steve was an “all American” kid. He loved animals, especially his dog Countess. He had an old Studebaker that he turned into a hotrod. He hiked the Sierra Nevada mountains. He was kind and practical.

Tony and I made it to 80 and stay in touch, and have had a good life.

So, Steve, rest in peace and know that there are many who think of you often, miss you, and are grateful for your sacrifice.

We Will Remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

NEVER Forgotten

There are specific people who have made great impressions in our lives. Steve is the one for me who is a constant in my mind and heart. While the loss of Steve still brings tremendous sadness, the treasure he was in our short time together was a wonderful gift of which I will forever be grateful.
