Thank You

Dear SSgt Henry Lee, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. I researched you on your 81st birthday, happy birthday, but your 53rd anniversary was 6 days ago, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy Spring! For many of us, we have begun Lent. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

You are always with me, brother.

Henry was my friend and brother-in-arms. He was a squad leader in 2nd Platoon, Charlie Company, 1st Bn, 5th Cavalry, First Cavalry Division. I was 2nd Platoon medic. On 3/21/1967. Our company air assaulted into a hot LZ outside a small, remote village in Binh Dinh Province. We were pinned down by a much larger NVA force. A small group of 8 men were surrounded in a small clearing. 3 were KIA, including Henry Lee. He was wounded but still alive when I got to him but was hit again while treating him. He died in my arms. SSgt. Henry Lee was a true hero. Rest in peace, my brother. I will never forget you or any of my brothers who gave all for our country.
