Thank You
Dear Lt Jon Layton, Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Qualified Infantry Unit Commander. I researched you on the 52nd anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy Spring! For many of us, we have begun Lent. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear 1LT Jon Walter Layton III, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

A Great Friend
Jon and I were high school classmates and friends. We went to Oregon State University together, and I was six months behind him in enlisting attending jump school and Special Forces training. I went to 10th Group, he went to 5th. Over the years, I've met Bob Almond and several others who served with Jon in Vietnam. I'm not surprised by their descriptions of him. I watched him grow from an overweight high school kid to a Special Forces officer. His dedication to the Army, his country, family, and friends will not be forgotten.
