My Friend
Calvin, it has been 52 years since you left us. I remember when I first met you in 1966. You were 3 years older than I and others kids and we looked up to you. You took the time out to talk to us and give us a helping hand. I will never forget you. Rest on until that great getting up morning for all. Don

Thank You
Dear Cpl Calvin Layton, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. The 50th anniversary of the start of your tour was this month. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy Spring! For many of us, we have begun Lent. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Never met but never forgotten
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. The Bible tells us that greatest love one can have is caring about others more than themselves. My children whom Calvin never met are in a free country with so many freedoms because of those that have sacrificed so much. I want Calvin's family to know that my heart is sadened for your loss. I know how beloved Calvin was and is through his brother Eric. I can see even 47 years later how deep the loss is. I so appreciate Calvin and know without a doubt his reward goes far behind what man can give. One day you will see him again and can find peace in that. His sacrifice, your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
