My Class Mate

I remember you from our school days in Jellico. I remember how handsome you were and you looked like another Elvis. You had a brilliant mind and you tried to hide it, but the teachers knew it, your classmates knew it, but you hid behind that big smile. I can picture you sitting in the classroom with your hand covering your mouth to hide a laugh from the teacher. I am so sorry you had to suffer in that God forsaken place. John you are still in my prayers - I was at the funeral home with you. You will never be forgotten and you will be forever young, brave and a hero.

From a sister unknown

John Lay was my brother. I was 6 years old when he passed away and although I can't remember much about him, I think of him often. May you rest in peace John, and may we see each other again soon in Glory.
