Spending your birtday in heaven. My almost brother-in-law

I hope you have found the love of your life who left us on Oct 12.What a birthday celebration that would be. You left us over 46 years ago, it still hurts like hell. You are & always were my hero. I hope to see you when my time on earth is through, I want to let you know how much you are loved & missed.

Still missed & thought of after all these years.

You were to be my brother-in-law. You told me to always remember the words to "We'll live in the Sunshine" Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice you made. Apparently we are still connected, as it seems you speak to me at times, asking me to come & visit your grave. You are not there, but I go out & talk to your head stone. Always remembered Never forgotten.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Ervin Leonard Laird, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
