I have never forgotten you or stopped thinking of you and it has been almost 40 years since I last saw you. You were the love of my love but it was not meant to be.

I have lived my life missing you and thinking of you and the time we shared. I did marry, twice, had four wonderful children but always held you in my heart. Losing you was one of the most difficult things I ever went through. My nephew was killed in Iraq in 2006 and his death brought all the wounds of your death to the surface again. You were too young to be lost as was my nephew.

I will always remember you and the love we shared even if it was for a short time. I remember you once asked me if I would still love you if you came back missing an arm or a leg and I told you I would love you no matter what, just come home. God had other plans for you and I.

I know for some I was "that girl from Maryland" but you and I knew it was something special. You are always in my heart.
