Thank You
Dear Cpl Randall Nauertz, Thank you for your service as a Machine Gunner. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It’s a New Year, but not necessarily better. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

In Honor
Dear Randy,
I am the daughter of your cousin Gary "Curly" Nauertz. Last summer I helped work on a project called "The Field of Honor". My husband and I sponsored Flags for Dad and my Brother Brian (Iraq War Veteran) and some others and Dad sponsored a Flag for you. Brian Nauertz, Gary Nauertz, Randall Nauertz, all in a perfect row. It was so beautiful and I hope you caught a glimpse of it from your special place in heaven. Fifteen hundred Flags flew for over a week in this Honor Field. The Moving Wall was there as well and we, of course, found your name on the Wall. Although I've visited The Wall other times, it is still a humbling experience to see your name.
My Dad gave your Flag to your cousin Larry "Fritz" to fly in his yard since Dad had one from us. Do you know of the Flag that flies in your honor in front of the VFW in Altoona? The stone beneath it bears your name. Your sacrifice is never lost on our family. Love from all of the Nauertz family!

Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Randall Keith Nauertz, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

We were family.
Randy, You met my Mom, Leona, after you were injured. She later married your Father, George. Your sister Linda & you are step siblings to Jack, Karen, & me. George and Leona are now gone. Your Father was very proud of you as his son and a veteran. I'm sorry we didn't meet and share life as kids in our 20's through seniors in our 60's. As the mother of a son and daughter, I am able to appreciate your family's loss and your complete personal sacrifice. Please know that you are loved. Roxanne
