Remembering a sweet little boy. . . . .

Dennis was one of my sister's students in country school, where she taught before she married, Miss Ellen Jacobsen. When I was on a visit to DC with my husband many years later, I made a tracing for my sister from The Wall. A few years later, she visited herself and made another tracing for herself. Later on as married Ellen Campbell., she was known in Merrick County where she lived and raised her children She was a columnist for the Merrick County newspaper, as well as for the Silver Salute of the Grand Island Independent. Through all those years, she never forgot Dennis, as none of us who appreciated his service to our country as one "who gave all."

Happy Memorial Day 2023

Today I honor and remember you. We never met, but your memory lives on thanks to my Dad. You both served together in Vietnam on a PBR boat. Your death effected him deeply. Some years back when I was in college I found your family and we all met. My Dad provided your parents and siblings closure. Thank you Dennis for your service and ultimate sacrifice. I will carry your memory on through the stories my Dad and your family shared. RIP.

We Will Remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
