POW/MIA Bracelet

I remember my parents wearing POW/MIA bracelets when I was a child; I did not understand the significance at the time. One of the bracelets is for Captain Bauder (it reads CDR on the bracelet itself). I found the bracelets in my mother's jewelry box, and I have retained them in my own jewelry.

I don't know any of the Bauder family, but I remember your son/brother/father/cousin/friend and honor his service to our country. I find it heartbreaking to see his status is still MIA.

My Father

Hello all... My name is Jane Bauder Castellani and I am Capt. J.R. Bauder's adult daughter. As I've read these remeberances to/for my father, I can't help but get emotional. I was only around 5 years old when we were notified he was MIA and I remember thinking, "What does that mean??".... I lived my life hoping, wishing, praying that he would just come home one day, but sadly, he has not nor have they ever found out what happened!! I want to thank each and every one of you for remembering him and posting these wonderful sentiments!! It has really touched my heart that those of you who wore his POW/MIA braclet, still pull it out on Memorial Day and were it in tribute. Sadly, our family never got one!! Unfortunately, my mother has passed away just five years ago, but I know she would have enjoyed the remeberances as much as I have!! It makes me smile when I think of my parents being together again as he was the love of my mothers life and she never got over loosing him......and, neither have I. Again, thank you all soooo much for the sweet sentiments and/or rememberances.
