THE WALL OF FACES

I grew up around the corner from Roger and went to school with his brother Rick. I remember him fondly and often. Thank you so much for your service and your sacrifice.

I met Roger in college and we rodeoed together... He was always fun to be around and was riding bareback horses so good that summer when he was called up... I last got a chance to be with him when we were at the Belt rodeo- and he told me that he had to report for the Army soon...
You are always in my thoughts old buddy- and someday we'll get a chance to ride the roughstock again...

Dear SP4 Roger John Kojetin, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

Roger, I wish I'd met you. I wish your nieces and nephews could have shared their lives with you. But, we couldn't... It wasn't meant to be. You gave your life for us 31 years ago today, January 10, 1971. It doesn't seem that long ago and yet an eternity. Your brother, Rick, thought the world of you. He shares you with us and that is how, now, we do know you. Even though life is so unfair, we thank you for what you did. We thank you for protecting our freedoms. And now, your nephew, Michael John Kojetin, is carrying on that protection for all of us. He is so proud to be a Marine and so proud to be your nephew. Thank you Brother, and thank you to all of you who gave your lives for us. We remember, and we love you so much and we will be together one day. Love, Shelley
