Such a Brave Man
Eddie Kitchens was a Family friend and one of my Fathers Boxers for the post teams he coached during his military carrier. Eddie was a very pleasant Christian to be associated with. When we lost him I had the worst time of my life with all the national turmoil. Loosing someone you know at the age of 9 was very difficult to understand. To this day I can't imagine how MRS Kitchens w/children managed to handle those days. I pray each day for the peace and comfort for the whole family.

A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You
A grateful nation thanks and honors you for your service, valor and sacrifice. The 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (Public Law 110-181 § 598) empowers the
Secretary of Defense to conduct a program on behalf of the nation that commemorates the
50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. This law also authorizes the Secretary to coordinate,
support and facilitate federal, state and local government commemorative programs and
activities. To that end, “The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration” was
formed. Congress articulated five objectives for
this Commemoration:
1. To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war, or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on
behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans. In addition, the immediate family members (parents, spouse, siblings and children)are to receive an In Memory Of certificate and Lapel Pin.
I met Mrs. Elizabeth Rose O'Banion at a Vietnam Veterans Dinner at the Fort Worth Elks Lodge on Nov 11, 2016 while I was facilitating a program to honor the vets through the Commemorative Partner Program. She stated she was the wife of 2LT Eddie Kitchen Jr. US Army. I lost contact with her after November. If you are immediate family of 2LT Eddie Kitchen Jr. please contact me so you can be properly honored and receive your pins and certificates. Get more info at www.vietnamwar50th.com

Not in vain
Lt. Eddie Kitchen Jr., I salute you. It's soldiers like you who paid the ultimate price so I can live free. This freedom I have, costed you everything and I'm grateful. When I met your daughters in high school and they talked about you, I was in awe. They showed pictures and news articles of you and I thank them for introducing us. After 22 years of military service and years of retirement you and your family are still in my thoughts. Your family kept your memory alive and because of that I will always remember you and your sacrifice. You rest on, cause your service was not in vain.
