The “Friends of Rocky Versace” remember one of Rocky's fellow alumni from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (a Cow in Cadet Company A-1, USCC when Rocky was a Firstie in Co. K-2) - and a brother Airborne-Ranger - Captain Lyell Francis King, USMA class of 1960, on what would’ve been his 83rd birthday - 12 May 2021.

Without people like you our great nation would not exist. Rest in peace CAPT. King, I salute you brave soul.

Captain Lyell F. King was awarded the Silver Star Medal for conspicuous gallantry in action. He served as an Infantry Unit Commander (Ranger Qualified) and was assigned to Advisor Team 22, MACV Advisors.

Dear Captain Lyell King, Thank you for your service as a Ranger Qualified Infantry Unit Commander, and for graduating from West Point. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is almost Christmas. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
