Don't know how I wound up on this site, but memories brought me back.
There was a Halloween party at my house in Bayside, and John was one of the kids that was there. Somewhere I remember a picture of about 7 or 8 kids.
John was one of 2 guys from my home town that are on the wall. The other person I only had a casual friendship with.
He died on the day I got out of the Army 9/27/65.

My Uncle I never met
Uncle John,
I never met you, but always felt close to you, in a way. My father, your brother, recently said he is seeing a lot of you in my actions, and he smiled. I was honored.
We will never, ever, forget you or your sacrifice. Rest in peace Uncle John. Semper Fi.
Your loving nephew

A great guy
John was in my company at The Basic School in Quantico, where we graduated in Springtime of 1967. John was an excellent leader and always in great physical shape. He was also the kindest, and nicest guy in the Company. I last saw John at Camp Carroll during Tet in 1968. We were providing security on a convoy. Semper Fi Lieutenant.
