Thank You

Dear Lt John Keepsnews, Thank you for your service as an Infantry Officer. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Tomorrow is Veterans’ Day and today is the Marine Corps’ birthday. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Mt.St.Mary's College

John Keepnews and Frank O'Brien were friends, classmates at MSM. Both of these young men have always been in my heart. Joined the Marines together. I see their smiles and laughter whenever l think of them. Graduated MSM in 1966 and passed into eternity within 2 1/2 months of each other in 1968. Forever young.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear 1LT John Arthur Keepnews, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

To A Sacred Heart Grammar School Classmate

Don't know how I wound up on this site, but memories brought me back.
There was a Halloween party at my house in Bayside, and John was one of the kids that was there. Somewhere I remember a picture of about 7 or 8 kids.
John was one of 2 guys from my home town that are on the wall. The other person I only had a casual friendship with.
He died on the day I got out of the Army 9/27/65.
