Bronze Star Medal Award for Valor
Sergeant First Class Larry Paul Bartlett was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, with Combat Distinguishing Device (V), for his exemplary gallantry in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Merit for his sustained meritorious service. He served as Infantryman (Special Forces Qualified) and was assigned to Detachment B-50 (Project Omega), Company E (Provisional) Detachment C-5 (Special Operations).

"One of the first paratroopers to drop in the advance party was Sgt. Larry Bartlett of Lake Crystal, Minnesota. His company commander, who jumped with the main force, was Captain William Golden, of Minneapolis.
The paratroopers were part of the 503rd Airborne Battle Group based on Okinawa."
