honoring you...

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

A true patriot and hero.

Freed had only been married a few months when he got his draft notice. He and his wife Jackie were the storybook couple every couple wants to be, so the draft notice was a definite bad news. Fred said "No big deal" Truth was He had Hypoglycemia so bad that he would eat one of the LARGE one-pound HErshey bars every day to keep his sugar certainly a deferrable ailment, but he went to check in anywsy snd never mentioned it. when we talked after he told me he was going to be a Marine. He had volunteered because no one else would. Of course, went to Namm. and sacrificed himaelf in a senseless war with no real objective and no winner. Your in my thoughts every day, Fred. May the spirit world give you the peace and happiness you selflessly sacrificed during your shot stay on Earth.
