'Known as 'Ricky' to the family). Ricky is 6 weeks older than me, so we always stayed close, even though he lived in Memphis and I lived in Pekin, Il. Ricky graduated from Christian Brothers high school in Memphis in 1966, and then opted not to go to college right away or join his Grandfather's cement business in Memphis, and decided to join the Marines-his logic was that at his age he would never be in such good physical condition again.'
